Idaho Education Advocacy: About Becky Sundin Mitchell

About Becky

Smiling woman with long blonde hair in a black blazer and white shirt.

Experience - Rooted in the Classroom

I’ve spent more than 20 years in education, teaching students in grades 6–12 in both science and English. My experience spans both charter and public schools, giving me a broad perspective on what works for students and teachers. I hold advanced degrees, including a Doctor of Education, and I’ve been honored to serve in leadership roles and receive national recognition for my work—but what matters most to me is the impact I’ve had in the classroom and with the students I serve.

As an education advocate and a resident of Idaho since 2009, my family’s connection to our public schools is deeply personal. As both an educator and a parent, I understand the importance of strong, supportive schools for every child. My own experiences navigating special education have shaped my commitment to ensuring that all students—no matter their needs—have access to the resources and opportunities they deserve. I aspire to bring this dedication to my role as Idaho Superintendent.
